We follow ‘White Rose Maths’. In Maths, we will be continuing with length and perimeter. Towards the end of term we will move on to fractions. The children will be: identifying unit and non-unit fractions, comparing and ordering fractions, ordering fractions on a number line and finding equivalent fractions.
Below is the Year 3 scheme of learning for the upcoming year. Sometimes we may spend longer consolidating certain topics and the order in which we learn them may change slightly. However, this gives you an insight as to the topics the children will be covering this year.

History
From week 3 until Term 4, we will be learning about the Romans. We will be looking at where they came from, life in Britain before the Romans invaded, how the Roman army enabled them to expand the Roman Empire, as well as how the Romans changed Britain once it became part of the Roman Empire. Our key question for this topic is: What have the Romans done for us?
Computing
This term, children will be learning about Branching databases. Children will develop their understanding of what a branching database is and how to create one. They will use yes/no questions to gain an understanding of what attributes are and how to use them to sort groups of objects. Children will create physical and on-screen branching databases. To conclude the unit, they will create an identification tool using a branching database, which they will test by using it. They will also consider real-world applications for branching databases.
Music
In Music, we will be learning how to play a recorder. Children will learn how to hold and use the recorder. They will also learn to play and read notes. The children will apply these notes in a sequence to play a song.
