MFL - French
MFL: Intent
Kingsnorth children learn French so that all children have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the world and to capture a curiosity of the world. Children will learn another language so that the school values of compassion and community will be demonstrated through their learning and appreciation of other cultures. The high-quality programme of study will enable children to express their ideas and thoughts in another language in listening, speaking, reading and in writing as well as developing thinking skills and resilience in their learning.
Children at Kingsnorth study French because of our close geographical proximity to France and their future job opportunities, as well as it being the language taught in most local secondary schools so that children can see progression. We would like children to feel confident in communicating in French so they feel better equipped for secondary school.
Kingsnorth are using the Languagenut programme of study to ensure progression in one language and to support teaching staff with planning and CPD.
