Intent
We are living in a world that is more connected technologically than ever before. At Kingsnorth Primary School, we aim to prepare students for their futures by providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing technological world. We aim to deliver a curriculum that is broad, well-sequenced and progressive to enable students to become digitally literate as well as modelling and educating students on how to use technology positively, responsibly and safely.

Implementation
At Kingsnorth, we deliver a broad and balanced curriculum through the three main strands of Computing in line with the National Curriculum; Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Citizenship. We choose to 'block' Computing therefore each year group will complete a unit of learning for 1 week per term. We follow the NCCE Teaching Computing Scheme of Learning with lessons planned carefully to ensure clear progressions of knowledge and skills.
Some of the resources available to support learning include; Amazon kindles, Bee Bots, Data Loggers, Laptops, Interactive Whiteboards and Visualisers. We aim to teach lessons which are 'unplugged' within our curriculum whereby children are able to learn about the fundamentals of Computing without the use of technology.
Impact

Children will have the opportunities to develop a love for Computing learning.

There will be a clear progression of skills and knowledge between EYFS, KS1 and KS2 with the application of this to real life.

The ability to ask the WHY behind their learning and not just HOW.

The ability to discuss, reflect and appreciate the impact that computing has on their learning, development and well-being.
