KingsnorthChurch of England Primary School

Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)

The priority for all of our pupils at Kingsnorth is for them to have the necessary life skills they need alongside their core curriculum, whilst also developing a spiritual awareness of themselves, and their role in the community, enabling them to successfully navigate their future lives.

We acknowledge and develop all pupils holistically. We promote positive mental health and well-being to enable all our pupils to have the tools to learn to live together. As a result, they are able to show sensitivity and respect to the differences we all share. Pupils at Kingsnorth become responsible, independent people who care about their world and are able to demonstrate a moral sense of responsibility and self-discipline. They have a love of learning and a desire to continue to expand their knowledge and skills throughout their lives.

Our Curriculum for PSHE includes learning about statutory Relationships and Health Education, in a spiral, progressive and fully planned scheme of work, giving children relevant learning experiences to help them navigate their world and to develop positive relationships with themselves and others.  Please refer to our Relationships and Sex Education Policy for more information.

With a strong emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health, our curriculum equips teachers to deliver engaging and relevant PSHE within a whole-school approach. Our lessons also include mindfulness, allowing children to advance their emotional awareness, concentration and focus.
